Hotels are now seeing lower occupancy rates. As with the airlines, the hotel business does not normally discount groups. However, with the very low demand, the hotels are offering incentives and rates not seen since 2002. The world economy has been affected as much as, and in some cases more severely than, the economy in the USA. The dollar has regained strength against most foreign currencies and this means lower prices too! Most of the cost of an international tour is based on the local currency. Thus, when the dollar gains strength, the cost of the tour in US dollars is reduced. We’ve seen reductions to the cost of tours in Europe, Mexico, Central America, and Australia of $400 - $500 per person.
