FRANCE PERFORMANCE TOUR SAMPLE ITINERARY Normandy / Paris
World Projects can customize a performance tour to France for your musical ensemble, including exchange performances and single billed performances at churches and cathedrals. Extend your stay or add meals, sightseeing, and local cultural activities to make this tour a unique and unforgettable experience for your students!
DAY ONE: DEPARTURE FOR PARIS (meals/movies en route) | Morning: | Arrive at your departure airport 3 hours prior to take off. Check in your luggage, move through security and onto your departure gate. | | Afternoon: | Depart for Paris (there may be a stop/transfer en route). | | Evening: | Overnight en route. |
DAY TWO: PARIS → BAYEUX/NORMANDY (D) | Morning: | En Route | | Afternoon: | Arrive into Paris, France!! After proceeding through immigration and customs, collect your luggage and meet your Tour Manager. Board the coach and depart for the Normandy area. You will visit Bayeux and the famous Tapisserie De Bayeux exhibited at the William the Conqueror Centre – a 330 foot long piece of embroidery which tells the story of the Norman Conquest. Afterwards, see the Cathedral Notre Dame, a beautiful example of Norman Gothic architecture. Afterwards, transfer and check into a local hotel. | | Evening: | Enjoy a Welcome Dinner as a group in Bayeux, and the rest of this evening is free. |
DAY THREE: BAYEUX / NORMANDY (B,D) – Performance #1 | Morning: | Breakfast as a group at the hotel. After breakfast, depart for the Normandy beaches. The echoes of conflicts won and lost come alive as you visit the various battlefield sites of World War II. Visit the 82nd Airborne Museum at St. Mere-Eglise followed by Point du Hoc in Arromanches, Omaha Beach and the US Military Cemetery. | | Afternoon: | Afterwards, return to the town of Bayeux for lunch on your own. Afternoon performance in the Bayeux/Normandy area. Afterwards, return to the hotel. | | Evening: | Dinner as a group and the rest of this evening is free. |
DAY FOUR: BAYEUX → PARIS (B,D) | Morning: | Breakfast as a group at the hotel. Check out of the hotel, load the coach and depart for Paris (approx. 3 hour coach ride). | | Afternoon: | Upon arrival back into Paris you will have some time for lunch on your own. After lunch, enjoy a Guided Sightseeing Tour of Paris! See the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, Place de la Concorde, Place Vendome and the Champs Elysees. The tour will end with a visit to the 2nd floor of the Eiffel Tower. After the tour, transfer and check into a local hotel where you will have some free time to settle in and freshen up. | | Evening: | Dinner as a group in a typical French restaurant and the rest of this evening is free. |
DAY FIVE: PARIS (B,D) – Performance #2 | Morning: | Breakfast as a group at the hotel. This morning, visit the famous Louvre Museum, which is home to many historic and infamous works of art – including the Mona Lisa, one of Leonardo Da Vinci’s masterworks. Spend this morning exploring the museum. | | Afternoon: | Lunch on own in Paris. Transfer to Versailles for a visit to the Palace. See the hall of mirrors and the beautiful gardens of this magnificent palace of King Louis XIV. Wanting to escape the busy life in Paris and to keep nobility under his control, Louis XIV built this chateau in which he set up home and installed government. Afterwards, transfer to this afternoon’s performance venue. Late afternoon performance in Paris | | Evening: | After the performance, return to the hotel to freshen up. Dinner as a group and return to the hotel. |
DAY SIX: PARIS (B,D) | Morning: | Breakfast as a group at the hotel. Today you will enjoy a visit to La Cité de la Musique. The Cite de la Musique (City of Music), in the late-modernist La Villette Park, is one spectacular success among former President Mitterrand's ambitious public works projects. The Cite is a postmodern structure containing exhibit space, classrooms, a café, a museum shop, and, most importantly, concert spaces featuring vocal and instrumental classical, jazz, and world music. | | Afternoon: | Lunch on your own in Paris. This afternoon, we will return to the Champs Elysees to enjoy a walk and take in what is one of the centerpieces of Paris. There will be time to stop along the way for photos, shopping etc. | | Evening: | Dinner as a group in Paris and return to the hotel. |
Morning Afternoon Evening DAY SEVEN: PARIS (B,D) | Morning: | Breakfast at the hotel. This morning you will have time for shopping when we visit one of the famous department stores. Or, possibly visit the Centre Pompidou to see the musicians and artists in the square. | | Afternoon: | Lunch on own in Paris. After lunch, transfer to an area of Paris known as Montmartre. This area is rich in history and is known for its artistic community – Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh both lived and worked in the Montmartre area at one point during their lives. This afternoon, enjoy a ‘Treasure Hunt’ in the Montmartre area. Group members will be assigned a group leader and given a map of the area and road book with questions on the history of the area, monuments, shops etc. During the hunt, members will receive a drink and a typical French snack. | | Evening: | Enjoy a Farewell Dinner as group in Paris to celebrate your France Performance tour!! During the dinner the winners of the ‘Treasure Hunt’ will be announced. Afterwards, return to the hotel. |
DAY EIGHT:PARIS DEPARTURE (B, meals on plane) | Morning: | Morning Breakfast at the hotel. Check out of the hotel and depart for Paris’ Charles DeGaulle International Airport. Upon arrival, check in your luggage, move through security and onto your departure gate. Board the plane and depart Paris. | | | | | | WELCOME HOME! |
