World Projects is excited to introduce the inaugural Philadelphia International Music Festival to be held in the winter of 2015. Not only is Philadelphia rich in historical importance but it is also recognized as a major cultural and art center, with the largest collection of public art in the nation and one of the top orchestras in the world. The City of Brotherly Love will welcome you and your ensemble in 2015 and provide an opportunity for musical growth while creating lasting memories.

ENSEMBLES : High school and college orchestras, bands, and choral groups.
DURATION: 5 days
ACCEPTANCE: A maximum of 4 high school groups and 1 university showcase ensemble. Entry by audition only.

DAY ONE: Thursday, February 26, 2015 - ARRIVE INTO PHILADELPHIA!
Morning: Groups arriving at Philadelphia International Airport will be met by a World Projects representative who will assist with loading the coaches. Transfer to the Festival hotel (to be determined). Groups arriving before the hotel’s check-in time may choose to take a tour of the city this morning (cost on own). Groups arriving by coach will be met at the hotel by a World Projects staff member, who will also assist with check-in.
Afternoon: Group arrivals. After checking in, groups will have free time to explore the Philadelphia area.
Evening: Dinner on your own. The director may be required to attend the Director’s Orientation Meeting in the hotel, and the rest of the evening is free!
DAY TWO: Friday, February 27, 2015 - PHILADELPHIA (D) – "Pops-Style" Performance / Dinner Cruise
Morning: Breakfast on own near the hotel. Today, groups will have an opportunity to perform at an indoor venue (location TBC).
Afternoon: Lunch on your own, and the rest of the day is free to explore the City of Brotherly Love.
Evening: Board coaches and transfer to the pier. This evening, enjoy a buffet dinner, DJ music, and dancing as you cruise along the Philadelphia waterfront aboard the Spirit of Philadelphia! Afterwards, return to the hotel.
DAY THREE: Saturday, February 28, 2015 - PHILADELPHIA (L) - Workshop
Morning: Breakfast on own near the hotel. Enjoy a group workshop with a Festival clinician (location TBC). The showcase ensemble will have a rehearsal.
Afternoon: A sightseeing excursion for your group will be scheduled around your workshop. Groups may elect to participate in one of the following:
  • Enjoy a day trip to Lancaster County! Your guide will take you through Amish Country with possible stops at an Amish farm, shop, schoolhouse, or roadside stand. A traditional lunch is included!
  • Stay in the city and delve into history at the National Constitution Center and Independence Hall or satisfy your art cravings at one of the many magnificent art museums! A Philly Cheesesteak lunch will be provided!
Evening: Dinner is on your own.

OPTIONAL: You may wish to attend a Philadelphia Orchestra concert this evening (additional cost; subject to season schedule and ticket availability). There may even be an opportunity for a meet and greet with members of the orchestra!


DAY FOUR: Sunday, March 1, 2015 - PHILADELPHIA - Verizon Hall Performance
Morning: Breakfast on own near the hotel. The morning is free for sightseeing on own.
Afternoon: Lunch on own. Meet in the lobby of the hotel in performance attire with instruments. Arrive at Verizon Hall for your group sound check. Following your sound check, store instruments in your warm up room.
Evening: Dinner on own in the area. Return to Verizon Hall for the Evening Adjudicated and Showcase Concert! Following the concert is the Awards Ceremony. Return to the hotel.
DAY FIVE: Monday, March 2, 2015 - PHILADELPHIA (D) → HOME
Morning: Breakfast on own. Most groups will be leaving Philadelphia today. If your schedule allows, try to fit in some last minute sightseeing, shopping, or dining.

Package Exclusions

  • Airfare (available through World Projects — see Air Travel Arrangements)

  • Additional sightseeing excursions (World Projects can arrange a variety of Philadelphia sightseeing activities which are presented as Optional Sightseeing Activities in the Director’s Packet)
  • Group transfers to non-festival events
