2014 Chicago International Music Festival

Thank you for considering the 4th Annual Chicago International Music Festival as your music performance tour in 2014. We know that you are looking for the best performance experience possible for your ensemble, and we strive to provide just that.

It is our mission to present young musicians with an experience that offers the opportunity for musical growth while creating lasting memories. To enhance this experience, the performance venue chosen for the festival is the prestigious Armour Stage at the Chicago Symphony Center in downtown Chicago – home to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

ENSEMBLES : High School and College Instrumental & Choral Groups.
DURATION: 5 days
ACCEPTANCE: 2 university and 4 high school ensembles. Entry by Audition Only.

DAY ONE: Sunday, April 6, 2014 – ARRIVE INTO CHICAGO!
 
Morning: Groups arriving at one of the area airports will be met by a World Projects representative who will assist with loading the coaches. Transfer to the Festival Hotel TBD. Groups arriving before the hotel’s check-in time may choose to take a tour of
the city this morning (cost on own). Groups arriving by coach will be met at the hotel by a World Projects staff member, who will also assist with check-in.
Afternoon: Group arrivals. After checking in, groups will have free time to explore the Chicago area.
Evening: Dinner on your own. The director will be required to attend the Director’s Orientation Meeting in the hotel. The rest of the evening is free!
DAY TWO: Monday, April 7, 2014 – CHICAGO (B) – Workshops / Dress Rehearsals
 
Morning: Breakfast provided at the hotel. Transfer to the Chicago Symphony Center (can be in the morning
or afternoon) - enjoy a group workshop with a festival clinician at the Chicago Symphony Center (subject to confirmation). Group soundcheck on stage at the Chicago Symphony Center (can be scheduled afternoon or evening). The rest of the day will be free to enjoy Chicago. World Projects will be happy to arrange optional sightseeing activities and/or meals for your group (additional costs apply).
Afternoon: Lunch on your own, and this afternoon is free to enjoy Chicago.
Evening: Dinner on your own, and the evening is free.
DAY THREE: Tuesday, April 8, 2014 – CHICAGO (B) - Chicago Symphony Center Performance (Adjudicated Concert) / Chicago Symphony Concert
 
Morning: Breakfast provided at the hotel. The morning is free to explore Chicago - World Projects will be happy to arrange optional sightseeing activities and/or meals for your group (additional costs apply).
Afternoon: Lunch on your own. Meet in the lobby of the hotel in performance attire with instruments. Transfer to the Armour Stage, Chicago Symphony Center.
Afternoon Adjudicated Concert at the Chicago Symphony Center. Return to the hotel to change clothes and store instruments then return to the Chicago Symphony Center.
Evening: Dinner on your own. This evening, attend a concert presented by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at the Symphony Center – current program includes “Rewind” by contemporary composer Anna Clyde, “Suite from Miraculous Mandarin” by Bela Bartok, and “Four Legends from Kalevala” by Jean Sibelius – all led by conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen (program is subject to change). Note: CSO tickets are subject to schedule and availability.
DAY FOUR: Wednesday, April 9, 2014 – CHICAGO (B) – Chicago Symphony Center Showcase Concert
 
Morning: Breakfast provided at the hotel. The morning and afternoon are free to explore Chicago - World Projects will be happy to arrange optional sightseeing activities and/or meals for your group (additional costs apply).
Afternoon: Lunch on your own. Lunch on your own. Dress rehearsals for showcase ensembles at the Chicago
Symphony Center.
Evening: Dinner on your own. Evening Showcase Concert at the Chicago Symphony Center. Following the concert is the Awards Ceremony.
DAY FIVE: Thursday, April 10, 2014 – CHICAGO (B) → HOME
 
Morning: Breakfast provided at the hotel.

Most groups will be leaving Chicago today. If your schedule allows, try to fit in some last minute sightseeing, shopping, or dining.
