The Southern Cross International Music Festival, under the umbrella of the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, (QCGU) and endorsed by the WASBE (World Association for
Symphonic Bands and Ensembles) Association aims to unite ensembles of the highest calibre in an event that allows for musical excellence, the finest educational outcomes and cross cultural exchanges.

ENSEMBLES: Youth and Adult Orchestras, Wind Bands, and Choirs will be selected by audition.
VENUES: Griffith University Conservatorium of Music, Queen Street Mall
ADJUDICATION: The festival has an optional adjudication in the concert hall at the Conservatorium of Music.
Head of the Faculty and Festival is Mr Ralph Hultgren (the Australian Representative for WASBE and mastermind of this festival).

DAY ONE: Wednesday, June 5, 2013 - Brisbane (D)

Groups arrive into Brisbane by air transportation. You will be met by your coaches (if arriving by air) and Tour Managers. Depart on a Brisbane Orientation Tour which will take you past many historical and significant architectural buildings, including City Hall, Parliament House, St John’s Cathedral, Treasury Casino and much more. |

Mid-afternoon, transfer and check in to a local 3-star hotel (TBC). Evening Welcome dinner as a group and some time to catch up on rest after a long flight. |

After breakfast, transfer to Queen Street Mall (or similar) where you will have an outdoor performance. Following your performance, watch other festival groups before packing up and returning your instruments to the hotel. |

DAY FOUR: Saturday, June 8, 2013 - Brisbane (B,D) - Performance #3

Breakfast as a group at the hotel. Afterwards, arrive at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University and move to your Dressing Rooms to store instruments until Concert warm-up. Enjoy a tour of the internationally renowned Conservatorium. Afterwards, you’ll have some time to explore the Southbank area of Brisbane and get lunch on your own. |

Move to the Basil Jones Orchestral Hall.
4.00-6.30pm Warm-up for your performance in the Basil Jones Orchestral Hall. Timing of warm-up required to be advised by Music Director. Venue will also be utilized for storage of instruments/cases and bags when not in rehearsal or performing - from 4.00pm to end of concert at 8.30pm. |
| Evening: |
Dinner on your own on Southbank. Performance in the Conservatorium Theatre as part of this evenings concert. Afterwards, return to the Basil Jones Orchestral Hall, pack up your instruments and return to the concert hall to watch the rest of this evening’s concert. At the conclusion of the concert, collect your instruments and return by coach to the hotel. |

DAY FIVE: Sunday, June 9, 2013 - Brisbane (B,D) - Master classes & Workshop

Breakfast as a group at the hotel. After breakfast transfer to Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University for a Master classes offered for the instrumentation. |
| Afternoon: |
Lunch on your own. After lunch enjoy Workshops (one per ensemble) in the Basil Jones Orchestra Hall with a respected clinicians at the Conservatorium of Music. Afterwards, pack-up your instruments and return to the hotel (end of Southern Cross Music Festival). The rest of the afternoon is free to explore Brisbane on your own. |

Wildlife in this popular zoo was captured by Australia's famous "Crocodile Hunter," a legendary herpetologist excelling in snake and crocodile capture techniques. You’ll have an opportunity to cross paths with such native animals as koalas, kangaroos and crocodiles! |

Check out of the hotel, load the coaches and transfer to Brisbane Airport.
Arrive and check in for your flight to Sydney. Move through security and on to the departure gate. Depart Brisbane for Sydney. Arrive in to Sydney! Collect your luggage, load the coaches and depart on a Sydney Orientation Tour including stops in the Central Business District, Eastern Suburbs and Bondi Beach. |

Lunch on your own in Sydney. This afternoon enjoy a Sydney Harbour Cruise and take in the sights of the world's most beautiful harbor. Late afternoon, transfer and check in to a central 3-star hotel (TBC). |

Say goodbye to your hosts and depart for the Sydney Opera House where you will enjoy a tour of this magnificent performance venue (Essential Tour).
After the Opera House Tour, walk to the Rocks area where you will enjoy a Guided Walking Tour of the Historic Rock’s District in Sydney – one of the oldest settled areas in the country!
